About Kate

Hi, I’m Kate, and I’m founder of the Other Side Group, a marketing strategy firm with a focus on new media consulting. We also do general marketing strategy, small business consulting, and market intelligence, but someone told us we were supposed to niche.

Professionally, I’m an active member of TiE Boston, and hold a Co-Chair position of the organization’s Marketing, Media and PR (MMP) Special Interest Group.  Additionally, I’m a member of the American Marketing Association of Boston, International Blogging and New Media Association, and am a weekly contributor to DigiActive, an organization that highlights the use of social media tools in worldwide activism efforts.

In my past, pre-graduate life, I was in two start-ups (one technology transfer and one critical infrastructure preparedness; one successful, one not so much) and am now back in the field, if you can call it a field (Some people are now being called entrepreneurs when asked their profession…).

I have a dual degree, with an MA in International Relations from The Fletcher School at Tufts University and an MBA from Goizueta Business School at Emory University. My focus…mmmm…foci were Entrepreneurship, Marketing, Southwest Asia and Islamic Civilization and Security Studies (jeesh!).

On the side, I’m a very non-professional musician and very non-professional athlete.
